PUNTA CATALINA (TIPPING POINT)

I would like to write and bring at the same time some information about this topic that has turned to a tipping point in the Dominican Republic. I’m talking about Punta Catalina. But what is Punta Catalina? According to this page (http://puntacatalina.cdeee.gob.do/descripcion/#), Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant is composed of two gross power units of 376 MW each, for a total of 752 MW gross, located in the Municipal District of Catalina, Baní, Peravia Province, in the Dominican Republic. The Power Plant will generate energy from the clean burning of pulverized coal, and along with this the project includes all the support facilities such as: the installation of a charcoal spring with a maximum capacity of 80,000 tons, coal unloading and storage systems completely closed, ash deposit, central warehouse for spare parts, water production plant, wastewater treatment plant and electrical substation of 345 kV 138 kV the corresponding transmission lines to connect the generated energy to the National Interconnected Electrical System (SENI) .

This project has given people plenty to talk about and to mention only one case of defrauding is the one of the Odebrecht that was a shame but even more that these people are out of the jail. But, it is my country. Beside of everything that is happening in this project. On the other hand many people and movement on the radio, television, interviews... express their opinion about this project and about the different corruption scandals that happening there, for example, the green march, in simple words the whole town is out on the street.

Spiritual Renewal  In this case I would rather to talk about me and my spiritual life, I think that it will also be good for me because I  feel that I have to renew my spiritual life. I am a believer and I have gone far from my religious life lately, due to my job, university and others activities I know I should not pay that much attention to, but I do. I was grown in a religious family, even my parents and grant parents were part of the main team at church. Since I was a child I was taught about God and the creation of the world by Him, and I was totaly involved in a religious life. with the step of the time as I was growing I started to be part of the teams on church, I was part of the child group of the church in which one I later on became a leader, then I when I get to be a teenager I moved to the teenagers group in which one also I became a leader in my firts year, then the president of the group in the next year and als...

UNITE 4, THE TIPPING POINT

The tipping point in social protests in 2017 There have had many social protects in Dominican Republic Through the years, but social movements in Dominican Republic had their most important antecedents in the 1916th by peasants that fight against the North American Intervention. Another important labor movement was in the sugar industry in the 40th against the Trujillo Dictatorship, and many social movements more, that have generated a sign in the history. The social protest that I want to refer as a tipping point in 2017 in Dominican Republic is the one called La Marcha Verde. La Marcha Verde had its roots at the beginning of these year in Santo Dominto due to the Odebrecht case, a company that belongs to Brasil. The governors involved in this case are Hipolito Mejia, Leonel Fernandez and Danilo Medina. The protest was generated by a group of civil organizations that win thousand of people over the country.
