HELLO

Hello, my name is Rafaela Martinez Gonzalez. I´m twenty-nine years old, I´m single and I live with my cousin. I´m from Don Juan Monte Plata but when I finished High school I moved to Santo Domingo, now I live in Villa Mella. I´m Modern Language (mention English) student,  of the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo. I work in the Dominican Conference of Religious as adjunct secretary. For me is a pleasure to be on this subject, I hope to take advantage of each class and to improve my knowledge. I´d like to say that I appreciate each moment because it means very much for me. I am in the disposition of giving the best of me and receiving the best of each one.

PUNTA CATALINA (TIPPING POINT)

  I would like to write and bring at the same time some information about this topic that has turned to a tipping point in the Dominican Republic. I’m talking about Punta Catalina.         Spiritual Renewal  In this case I would rather to talk about me and my spiritual life, I think that it will also be good for me because I  feel that I have to renew my spiritual life. I am a believer and I have gone far from my religious life lately, due to my job, university and others activities I know I should not pay that much attention to, but I do. The Tipping Point: Femicide in Dominican Republic: Dominican Republic has reached a tipping point in femicide. Each year, more than 102 women are killed by their partners of life. This wave of femicide is terrifying, so far this year more than 53 women have been killed in gender-based killings, according to the latest police figures. According to mavens and word of mouth opinions, this high figures of femicide is triggered because of the Dominican Republic "Macho" culture, that blame the women of being abused or harassed. The victims are usually women that have suffered domestic violence and the killers are their husbands or boyfriends, who slayed them when they dont want to go on their relationship.
