According to the definition given by the dictionary, shyness is the quality of being shy; also is a fear of social interaction.
There are many factors that cause shyness.
Psychologists say some reasons that make people shy; some of them are: parents divorces, physical attractiveness, parents behaviors, competition, new school or job, social situations specially when coming into contact with new people, they can feel fears about the reaction they will receive from others.
In my opinion a shy person can be characterize as introvert, but not necessarily a negative or pessimist person. I think the can be shy but positive and optimist.
To me there are different type of shy people, the one that is fearful to socialize in a group of people but is attentive about what is happening around him or her, and the other one who is shy and also is aloof or distant. In addition I thin that there are people more shy than others.
From my point of view people don't born shy, I think people become shy, because to be shy you need to be conscious of yourself, so shyness start in a child when he or her is able to identify his or herself as a distinct existence.
I' m totaly agree with you, but shyness don't let People to open themself to others.
