Unit 5: Feng Shui
Feng shui is an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It is a complex body of knowledge that teaches us how to balance the energies in any given space—be it a home, office, garden–in order to assure good fortune for the people inhabiting it.
Since good fortune comes in many ways, such as better health, a successful career, or a fulfilling love life, feng shui has detailed tips for almost any area of your life.

Feng Shui Theories
The ancient Chinese believed that the energy of a specific land could either make or break the kingdom, so to speak. The Taoist theory of yin and yang, for example, is essential to feng shui. It helps us examine the balance of the feminine (Yin) and the masculine (Yang) in our lives to maintain a good flow of Chi.
Also, there are five feng shui elements, which form the basic foundation of a feng shui analysis. Wood, fire, earth, metal, and water are each represented by certain colors that can help us bring harmony to a particular space.
The main tools used in analyzing the feng shui of any space are the feng shui compass and the bagua. The feng shui energy map, or bagua, is an octagonal grid containing the symbols of the I Ching, the ancient oracle on which feng shui is based.
Knowing the bagua of your home will help you understand the connection between specific feng shui areas of your home and specific areas of your life. For example, you have a Love and Marriage area in your home, a Career area, a Health and Familyarea. That means that you have a total of eight bagua areas that you can work on and make changes to improve the aspect of your life it's connected to.
